Welcome to Aminithing

I offer Tools, Lumber and Supplies for the hobby enthusiast.  Whether your into model railroading, planes, games and dollhouses I have something for you.

Featured on this site is 1/2 inch scale with a selection of 1/12, 1/48 and 1/144th supplies and kits.

Let's talk about scale!   I use the word scale alot on this site and all it means is size. Some folks refer to size in factions others prefer ratios and both are correct.   For model railroaders  it's the ratios are called Gauge.   HO, G, O, N, Z and ZZ.  Dollhouse Miniature folks mostly call it scale.

O is the same as 1/48 inch    N is very close to 1/144th

Here's a chart with an example.

One inch is also 1/12th, 1:12 and 1.   One foot equals 12 feet

Half inch is also 1/2 and 1/24 and 1:24 and .50    One foot equals 24 feet

Quarter inch is also 1/4 and 1/48 and 1:48 and .250   One foot equals 48 feet

One one forty fourth scale is 1/144 and 1:144 and 0.83 or dollhouse for a dollhouse  one foot equals 1/12th an inch

Example, an average man is 6 foot in height.  In 1:12 scale that man is 6 inches in height. In 1/24 scale that man is 3 inches in height and 1/48 scale that man is 1-1/2 inches in height.

Note that each scale can sometimes have larger or smaller pieces.   Example of a dollhouse bedroom dresser in 1/12th scale can look out of place in a room.  Sometimes pieces are a larger size and still be called a 1/12 inch piece.  On this site I mention items that I know about if they're on the larger or smaller side.
